| Merv
began wood-turning after retiring about six years ago. He works from
his house here in Toronto, using a very small lathe. He has worked
with wood most of his life, everything from building houses during
high school to building rowboats to woodturning.
The candlesticks have two coats of tung oil, a non-toxic hard drying
oil, and one coat of beeswax. Beeswax
is soluble in water so use a dry cloth when polishing. To restore
the luster of the candlesticks, apply a beeswax based polish such
as Lee Valley's Beeswax Polish. |
